Chapter 22-- WHAT DO YOU TELL PEOPLE ABOUT RELATIVE HOCL CONCENTRATIONS?  -- Pioneer of HOCL Science with Jeffrey F. Williams

I think there is plenty of evidence that lower concentrations will benefit. Also, if it's not something that the person finds hard to tolerate--- people with severe oral health problems, gingivitis, periodontitis----then the more HOCl the better. 

 

And I do know people who quite regularly use it at about 200 ppm. Most people find that a bit distasteful, but I think it can also bring a lot of good if there's an oral health problem that's serious. And there are a of those about. 

 

Most HOCl these days  is manufactured for environmental use rather than topical use. So industrial production of HOCl is generally at about 200 parts per million. And that's a very effective environmental sanitizer and disinfectant.

 

You can make it at significantly higher concentrations for dilution. Generally speaking, the more concentrated you make it, the less stable it is. So the most stable HOCl, in my experience, is where you can make it at approximately 200 parts per million. 

 

You can  put that in the right bottle, a nice clean bottle that doesn't have any kind of reaction between HOCl and the plastic,  and it will last probably for years. So the higher concentrations are generally used for environmental purposes.

 

I know that solutions of say 300 ppm are perfectly good and tolerated on wounds or even in eyes. So there's a range here. I think the important thing is that if you're going to dilute it, dilute it with good water. Dilute it preferably with distilled water. Don't do it with tap water because tap water often has quite a lot of things in it that will react with the HOCl.
