Ep9 (full episode) -- Osteoarthritis, Dry Mouth, and HOCL -- Dental Revolution: Biohacking the Mouth/Body Connection SEASON1

In this episode, we hear the incredible and unexpected health journey of Suzy Lake, a photographer and retired professor from the University of Guelph.

Having managed osteopenia since her early 40s and severe osteoarthritis since her early 50s, Suzy was no stranger to chronic pain and inflammation, particularly in her lower back, hips, knees, and ankles. She also suffered from a severe, uncomfortable case of dry mouth.

Everything changed during a routine dental procedure. To prepare for a tooth implant, Suzy’s dentist, Dr. Goodman, prescribed a 10-day regimen of an HOCL (Hypochlorous Acid) "oral swish" to thoroughly clean her mouth systemically.

While the swish was intended for dental hygiene, Suzy experienced a shocking systemic benefit: within just four to five days, the chronic swelling in her lower legs and ankles completely disappeared.

Furthermore, the HOCL rinse entirely resolved her severe dry mouth, clearing away the uncomfortable crusty formations and thick tongue film she had been battling.

Watch the full video to hear Suzy’s firsthand account of how a simple oral rinse led to whole-body anti-inflammatory relief and dramatically improved her daily quality of life!

MEET SUZY LAKE

A retired professor and photographer living in Toronto who has dealt with the degenerative effects of osteopenia and arthritis for decades.

THE STRUGGLE WITH ARTHRITIS

Suzy's arthritis primarily affects her spine, hips, and knees, leading to continuous aching and daily swelling in her lower legs and ankles.

THE DENTAL CATALYST

In preparation for a permanent tooth implant crown, Dr. Goodman recommended an HOCL oral rinse to ensure Suzy's mouth was completely free of bacteria and systemic inflammation.

UNEXPECTED SYSTEMIC RELIEF

The most surprising outcome of the HOCL swish was its full-body anti-inflammatory effect. Just 4-5 days into the 10-day oral regimen, Suzy noted that the daily swelling in her legs and ankles vanished completely.

CURING SEVERE DRY MOUTH

Prior to the swish, Suzy suffered from debilitating dry mouth that caused embarrassing and uncomfortable "crusty white formations" on the corners of her mouth. The HOCL rinse completely eliminated these symptoms.

A NEW STANDARD OF CLEAN

Suzy reports that the rinse leaves her mouth feeling incredibly clean, having dissolved the thick, coated film on her tongue.

CLINICAL IMPROVEMENTS

During her follow-up dental visit, clinical probing showed a massive reduction in gum inflammation, with absolutely no bleeding observed.

DAILY MAINTENANCE

Suzy now relies on the swish every morning and night. She notes that if she runs out, her dry mouth symptoms slowly begin to return, but they recover very quickly once she resumes the rinse.

I think that the osteoparini began when I was in my early 40s and the signs of arthritis probably came in my early 50s. My arthritis is basically in my lower back spine. There's a disintegration there. My hips are bad and my knees are bad. So, I think I'm probably far into the intermediate stage of arthritis at this point. My hips and my knees ache quite continuously. When my dry mouth occurs, it's fairly consistent. The awful thing is when my dry mouth is bad, I will have that crusty white, you know, come and form, you know, u little crusties on the side of my mouth, which I think is terrible. It's disgusting. It's embarrassing.

Well, my name is Susie Lake. I live in Toronto. I am a photographer and I'm a retired professor from the University of G. The University of G is a small city outside of Toronto. Dr. Goodman introduced the swish oral swish to me because I was at the end of a process of having a tooth implant. And before the tooth was actually put in, permanently put in, she wanted to clear my mouth and make sure that my mouth was clean and systemically clean.

I noticed and I was excited to tell Dr. Goodman said that um I had had a problem with my lower legs tending to swell and all of a sudden the thing is I didn't have that lower leg swelling at the end of the day. It started to be noticeable probably 4 days, 5 days into using the Swiss. By the time that I saw Dr. Goodman, I could honestly say that my legs were not swelling and they were not prone to swelling.

So, you're here today and we're supposed to be putting an implant crown in and I have given you some HOCL10 days. You said 10 days. I knew that it would be helpful for the tooth. And I noticed that with my arthritis that um at the end of the day, even if I've walked a tremendous amount, that uh my ankles are no longer swollen at the end of the day.  That's incredible.  I think it's incredible. The change in my lower legs and ankles was really very noticeable.  Well, that's [laughter] all I can say.  It is. Wow.

So, I'm assuming the anti-inflammatory effect of the HOCL is having an effect on your entire body.  Oh, for sure.  So, I'm going to give you some more. I wonder if we should go for a period of time without using it and see if they get bad and then if you use it and they get  Oh, no. I don't want you to take them away from me. So, Susie, um you've been using the switch for a couple weeks now in a row, I think. Yes. Right.

Tell me what you've noticed. Well, um the when I spoke with you last, I told you about the reduction in my uh um uh inflammation in my legs and um uh so I didn't notice that um my uh dry mouth um had improved because um prior to taking your Swish, I was having um dry mouth bad enough that I'd get these little white crusties um on the outside corners of my mouth. mouth. Um, and because I was all excited about my legs, I didn't even notice or reckon about my dry mouth.

Um, but today as well, I mean, since then, um, and today as I come to see you, my mouth really feels very clean. So the residue where I felt that I always had a coated tongue or um you know uh kind of like a a thick film that's all gone. I can feel the texture of my mouth  and from my point of view I was just in your mouth  right and uh I think the tendency has gone down and the inflammation to what I just did  it didn't bleed at all or anything so that was great also.

Yeah, this actually is probably the first thing that I felt that my mouth was really clean. There's an interesting taste of the product as I spit it out that opens up an awareness of how clear my mouth actually feels. I don't use any of the mouthwashes that we had in the home anymore.

Now I use the swish in the morning and the swish at night. And I find it really helpful if it's convenient to actually use the swish in between when I've run out. It doesn't come back bad. It doesn't come back as heavy as pre-swish days, but I do notice that the dry mouth is resuming. And so when I I get the new bottle of Swiss, I can recover quite quickly.
