Chapter 16-- CAN YOU USE HOCL IN A NEBULISER, OR NASAL SPRAY? -- Pioneer of HOCL Science with Jeffrey F. Williams
You can use HOCl in a nebulizer. I use a nebulizer -- a little device that gives you a fine spray of saline. Some people have a lot of trouble with dryness of mucosal surfaces. And those make a really good delivery system for HOCl.
The tiny droplets will get past the nasal mucosa and be drawn into the lungs. And again, HOCl can be beneficial. We know there are clinical trials that have shown that to be the case, even in symptomatic people with coronaviruses or influenza viruses. The benefits go all the way down into the lungs.
I use it so much as I’m probably unusual in that I'm active around the farm. Quite frequently, I get abrasions and cuts and wounds. So I've always got HOCl with me. I have it in my tool shop and I have it obviously at home here. So I use it whenever there's a problem.
One of the things that, of the many things that happens with topical HOCl--- and I think certainly some people who have oral health problems will attest to this--- is pain relief. It does have an effect on the reflexes that convey pain.
And we don't entirely know how that works, but what we do know is that there are molecules that are formed that convey pain resulting from inflammation, and convey pain to the nerve endings that perceive pain. We know somewhat from work that we've done ourselves, we know that certain proteins, called cytokines, are messenger proteins and polypeptides.
We know now that some of those are very quickly inactivated by hypochlorous acid. So there's a good reason to use it on every site that is potentially a problem. Working around the farm, I get things in my eyes. I have no problem at all using HOCl, spraying it in my eyes if I've got some irritation there.
All these mucosal surfaces that are subject to contamination, infection, benefit from routine use of hypochlorous solutions.
